How long does it take?
Most jobs are done in about a day. A very large or very full basement can take longer, and we'll tell you up front.
Why black?
Black makes joists, pipes, wires and ductwork recede, so the ceiling stops drawing your eye. Lighter colors tend to show every shadow and pipe.
Will it make my basement feel smaller or darker?
Usually the opposite. With the clutter overhead gone from view, the room tends to feel taller and cleaner. Lighting matters, so we'll talk about it at your consultation.
Do you paint over the wires and pipes?
We paint the exposed ceiling as one clean surface, including most pipes, wires and ductwork. We go over anything that should stay unpainted before we start.
Will I still be able to reach my pipes and shutoffs?
Yes. Nothing gets covered up, so plumbing, wiring and valves stay as easy to reach as they are today.
Do I have to empty the basement?
No. Move what you can and tell us what's left. We cover what stays. Heavy clutter can add to the job, so we ask up front.
What if I have water stains on the ceiling?
Old stains and repairs are exactly what a uniform finish hides. If there's an active leak or mold, that needs to be fixed before painting.
Can you add lighting too?
Ask us about it at your consultation. Good lighting makes a black ceiling look its best.
